Dans le cadre de la convention de la MLA (Modern Languages Association) en 2015 à Vancouver, la George Sand Association tiendra une session sur le thème "George Sand et l'enfance".
Une autre session de la GSA sera consacrée aux "lieux de mémoire chez George Sand"
"Within a decade of the publication of Pierre Nora’s Les Lieux de mémoire, the term entered the Robert dictionary (1993).
Nora’s lieux de mémoire “range from symbols (the tricolor of the French flag) and monuments (the Panthéon) to pedagogicmanuals (Le Tour de la France par deux enfants), institutions (la bibliothèque des Amis de l’instruction) and personages (historian Ernest Levisse) to commemorative events (the 14th of July), honorific dates (the centenaries of Voltaire and Rousseau) and exhibitions (‘L’Exposition coloniale of 1931’).” This panel will examine lieux de mémoire in Sand’s body of work. We will explore how this dame of Nohant and fils de Jean-Jacques figures, exploits and is defined by certain lieux de mémoire. We will furthermore ask how Sand participates in establishing these lieux de mémoire. How is Sand’s work itself a site of memory?"
