P.269の上から3行目、ブローチ（it）と服（a green jumper）の関係性がおもしろい。
'No, it wasn't. I wore it on a green jumper. I remember. And I wore the same jumper every day.'
'And at night?'
'It was still in the jumper.'
'And the jumper.'
'Oh, hell, the jumper was sitting on a chair.'
なぜ片方は「on」で、もう片方は「in」？
７月８日のボブちゃんは、第２４章、P.265の中ほど、

から読みます。
第２３章P.261中盤下「Poirot went swiftly to the telephone. He flicked over the pages of the telephone directory and asked for a number.」の「asked for a number」のこと。
「あぁぁ、交換さんね」と思いつくまでに結構時間がかかった。スマホ時代の読者で、どのくらいの人がこの「asked for a number」の意味を理解できるんだろう～。
それに、「the number」ではなくて「a number」なのも、ノンネイティブにとってはなかなか手強い。読者にしてみれば、ポワロが電話をかけることは想定できるものの、どこにかけるのかはまだはっきり分かっていない。いや、勘のいい読者は推測できるのだけれど。明確にされるのは、その次の文「’Allo-- Allo-- is that the Durham Hotel. ~」。だから、「the」じゃなくて「a」なのか――思わず納得です。
7月1日のボブちゃんは、P.261の下から10行目、

から読みます。
