Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin: ETH is the solution for Bitcoin's limited functionality

The co-founder of Ethereum (ETH), Vitalik Buterin, said he was trying to solve the limited functionality of Bitcoins (BTC) by creating Ethereum, according to an interview with Business Insider published on February 28.

During the interview, Buterin compared Bitcoin with a calculator and said that it does one thing and does it well, while believing that Ethereum is more like a smartphone that can run apps that can do almost anything, including the processes of one calculator.

Buterin concluded with the definition of his solution in a single sentence:
"So basically I took the same idea [as with a smartphone] and the system's performance has been increased by making it more general and applying it to blockchains."

As Cointelegraph reported in February, Buterin announced that its crypto investments are almost exclusively dedicated to the Ethereum Network. His entire non-ETH exposure includes Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Bitcoin, Dogecoin (DOGE) and Zcash (ZEC). Together, this accounts for less than 10 percent of the value of its Ethereum holdings.

In December of last year, Buterin also stated that future block-shards based on proof-of-stakes will be "a thousandfold more efficient" and that non-financial applications made possible by cheaper transactions "will be given an important place in history."
