Three years ago, Jacobi Farrell was bragging to the Gang Task Force about being a gangster in Prince George and warning cops to steer clear of him.On Tuesday, the former member of the Game Tight Soldiers was sentenced to three years in prison after being convicted of possessing loaded prohibited firearms.Justice Deborah Kloegman sentenced Farrell, now 27, to the mandatory minimum term, saying his troubled childhood and the fact he had turned his life around in recent months made up for aggravating factors in the 2010 case."I am of the firm belief that this young man has the very real potential to become a respectable contributing member of society and I see no purpose in incarcerating him for more time than necessary to provide a fit and proper punishment for these past offences," Kloegman said.Crown Sharon Steele had been seeking a five-year sentence for Farrell, who was arrested in September 2010 at a Prince George apartment full of guns, knives and illicit drugs.Kloegman acknowledged that the apartment was a fortress with a barricaded front door and a surveillance camera monitoring activity outside.

"There was a plethora of weapons and accessories strewn throughout the residence," she said during a brief hearing at the Vancouver Law Courts. "Some were in plain sight with easy access, such as firearms cartridges on the sofa, a magazine stand at the floor, a collection of cartridges on the desk and knives on the speaker stand …. Other items were secluded in closets, cupboards or under the couch cushions."Farrell was only convicted of possessing three of the firearms: two sawed-off shotguns under his mattress and a Beretta handgun in a kitchen drawer linked to him by his DNA on the magazine inside.The Beretta and a Mosberg shotgun were both loaded.Kloegman said the serial numbers had been obliterated."These firearms were obtained illegally for criminal purposes only," she said.
