動詞としての意味は3つあるようですが、その中でも今回紹介するのはこれ。

簡単な単語ほど説明はややこしい。。 wag は犬が「しっぽを振る」という意味です。

もうすぐ何かをする、何かが始まるときに使うフレーズです。

野球の試合がこれから始まるところだ。

などなど、使う場面はたくさん。

A: Are you still playing games?
A: あんた、まだゲームやってたのかい？

Tip of the Week No.119 'on purpose'

not by accident; deliberately: He did it on purpose, knowing it would annoy her.
偶然の出来事ではない；故意に：彼は、彼女がイライラすることをわかっていてわざとやった。

purpose 自体は「目的」という意味があります。
on とくっつくことで「目的があって」と変化したのかな？
on purpose は日本語で「故意に・わざと」という意味です。

He ate someone's cake on purpose.
彼は故意に誰かのケーキを食べた。

She made him cry on purpose.
彼女はわざとあいつを泣かした。

He spilt a cup of coffee on purpose, since that's for his arrogant boss.
彼は傲慢な上司のコーヒーをわざとこぼした。



こうしてみるとあまりいい意味では使われないことが多い気がします。

energetic adj.
having or needing a lot of energy and enthusiasm

多くのエネルギーと熱意がある、もしくは必要としていること

日本ではエネルギッシュといいますが、英語では energetic になります。
エネルギッシュは和製英語で、ドイツ語の energisch が由来です。
英語圏でエネルギッシュと言っても理解してもらえないのでご注意ください。

Example sentences:
He knew I was energetic and dynamic and would get things done.

The heart responds well to energetic exercise.

I think I'd prefer something a little less energetic.

Those old guys are very energetic!
