Tom began to speech in Contest.

" I'm from Oklahoma. When I came to New York City, I was suffering

from many things. I was down many times. Finally I Couldn't go to

the university. I spent all the time in my room. I could do nothing.

My life continues blue after blue.

At that time, my girl friend Mary came to New york City and saved me."

Tom spoke in tears.

「私はメアリーのおかげでニューヨークの日々の生活に慣れることができました」

　トムはコンテストで喋り始めた。

「私はオクラホマから出てきました。ニューヨークに出てきた時、色々な事で苦しみ、何度もダウンしました。とうとう最後には大学に行く事も出来なくなりました。

私は一日の大半を部屋で過ごしてしました。そしてどうする事もできませんでした。憂鬱な日々が続いてたのです。

そんな時私のガールフレンドメアリーはニューヨークに来て私を救ってくれたのです」

　トムは涙ながらにこう語るのだった。

Tom decided to participate ALL AMERICAN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS SPEECH CONTEST.

Theme is, " The real American lady Mary."

Tom writed the manuscript of speech contest day afer day.

"Hey Tom. What are you doing?"

Mary asked Tom.

" Just now I write very important thing Mary."

" What's that? Tom."

" I can't tell you now. A month later, I will tell you Mary."

" Oh, top secret job, Tom."

"Yes. That's right."

Tom and Mary smiled each other.

トムは全米の大学生スピーチコンテストに出場する事を決めた。

「本当のアメリカのレイディー、メアリー」

　というテーマである。

トムは原稿を来る日も来る日も書き続けた。

「トム何してるの」

「今重要な事を書いているんだメアリー」

「何なのトム」

「今はいえない、一ヵ月後に言うよメアリー」

「トップ・シークレット（最高機密）ねトム」

「その通り」

　二人は顔を見合わせて笑った。

Mary worked so hard day afer day. Finally She passed examination

  of The Ivy League University.

" Congratulation Mary! "

" Thank you Tom."

They hugged many times at that time.

" In the future, you will be The President of The United States of America,

Mary. "

"No kidding, Tom. "

After a while, Mary said to Tom again.

" Thank you Tom. "

Mary creid.

" Not at all Mary. "

Tom also creid.

猛勉強の甲斐あってメアリーはアイビーリーグの大学に合格したのだった。

「おめでとうメアリー」

「ありがとうトム」

　二人は何度も抱き合った。

「将来はアメリカ合衆国の大統領だ、メアリー」

「からかわないでよトム」

　しばらくしてメアリーはもう一度トムに言った。

「有難うトム」

　メアリーは泣いていた。

「どういたしまして」

　トムも泣いたのだった。
