Victoria Beckham's Style: The Designer Makes the Case for Blue and Orange Color Combo

2017-02-09 10:39:46 | 日記

In the past few years, Victoria Beckham has transformed herself from a pop singer to a full-blown fashion designer. Not only has she made us go gaga over her eponymous brand and its throng of relaxed yet structured cocktail dresses and outerwear, the former Spice Girl surprised us all with the announcement of her upcoming line with Target (set to launch in April); she's even designed a T-shirt with her adorable five-year-old daughter, Harper.

But perhaps what we love most about Beckham is her undeniably chic sense of style. The style icon usually sticks to a uniform that consists of baggy trousers, cool kicks, and a chunky knit—a classic combo we'll undoubtedly see at her upcoming show on Sunday, February 12, at New York fashion week. To put a girly spin on her boyish ensembles, the designer has lately been opting for a wardrobe full of pretty pastel colors over fashion’s favorite neutrals like navy and black. Just this week, she was spotted wearing an tangerine-hued dress with a pair of bright turquoise shoes from her pre-fall 2017 collection. The outfit reminded us of the equally vibrant ensemble she wore while en route to Paris a few weeks ago—though this around, she opted for a pair of orange pants and an oversized powder blue shirt.

While the color combo usually has us conjuring up images of the Knicks in our heads, Beckham's latest style choices have proven that the complementary shades can elegantly amp up any look without heading to the Tony the Tiger territory. In addition to blue and orange, the designer's been introducing other groups of bright palettes to her look recently. Combined with everything from deep berry sweaters paired with gray trousers to a scarlet red dress worn over a blue button-down, the style star has truly mastered the art of wearing color with aplomb—a pretty surprising feat coming from the woman who made the little Gucci cheap cocktail dresses a thing.

One thing to keep in mind if you want to mimic Victoria Beckham's style? She typically wears a pair of dark, oversized sunglasses with almost every outfit. This not only adds a bit of mystery to her look, but also helps ground all the colors of the ensemble.

The designer also opts for pretty minimal makeup looks, as well, which makes it a whole lot easier to play with every color of the rainbow when it comes to your wardrobe. Trust us, it’s harder choosing the right red lipstick when you’re wearing orange and blue. With Beckham’s recent penchant for bright and bold hues, we can only hope her upcoming collection features some of the same splashes of color.
