  同システムはメタルハライド高輝度放電(HID)ランプを利用し、70ワットのメタルハライドランプ1個で
  50ワットの白熱灯8個分の光量を得ることができる。

   「このシステムの消費電力は、エネルギー効率が最もよい蛍光灯の約3分の1、平均的な蛍光灯と
  比べると約4分の1だ」とDavenport氏は語った。さらに光ファイバ照明では、蛍光灯と違って水銀を
  使用しておらず、熱や紫外線も出さない。"
