Prince2 Principle 4: Manage by Stages

A Prince2 project is divided into stages. A project is planned, monitored and managed for each stage.
Breaking a project into smaller, manageable chunks enables the Project Board & PM to manage their project well as it provides focus and clarity on each stage. A detailed plan in a given stage helps the Project Board & PM to track the progress and evaluate the ongoing viability of the business case.
In Prince2, every project has at least 2 stages: one Initiation stage and one Implementation stage.
