The 115th Anniversary Ceremony of the NiKKi Fron Group

2011-04-15 20:00:00 | インポート

The 115th anniversary ceremony of the NiKKi Fron Group was held at the Saihoku-kan Hotel in Nagano City on April 15, 2011. During the ceremony, we expressed our deep appreciation to the past in order to move into the future with our renewed commitment, and a quest to take on new challenges.

Thanks to your help, we marked our 115th anniversary. Since 1896 when we started our business as a hemp wholesaler, we have been developing and shifting our business in various fields, consistently focusing on materials. We deeply appreciate your continuous help and assistance; without the efforts of great predecessors and those who have been supporting us, our current success could not have been achieved.

At the ceremony, Mr. Fumikatsu Tokiwa, the former chairman of Kao Corporation and the current chairman of the Japan Association of MONO Innovation, agave the kaynote lecture titled, "Monodzukuri-no-chikara: Mono, Hito, Tamashii-no-tsunagari," or "the powerof craftsmanship: the ties among things, human beings, and spirits." In his lecture, he shared his idea with us: we should see things through our eyes and our minds to make the move and step forward so that we can cope with changes of the times, and it is important for us to make new challenges without sticking to existing means. He also mentioned that monodzukuri needs not only technologies, but  also understanding. He said that some goods cannot be purchased, even if they are made in the spirit of monodzukuri, however, adding services to goods makes them better address the public needs.

His lecture and advice were extremely helpful to, and supportive of, us since we are a company that has been creating and taking on new challenges.

For the up-coming 120th anniversary, the NIKKi Fron Group is now conducting our business based upon the new structure of our company, where the management department has been enhanced, with a lot of advice from outside experts. While strengthening our existing business bases, we are also seeking to establish a new core business as a next generation company. We continue to carefully and vigorously move forward to establish and develop our unique and new businesses, only frounded in NiKKi Fron, with strengthning our original brands and our research and development, which have a long history of specializing in materials.

2011 Business Trip Report from Europe and the United States

2011-04-08 20:00:00 | インポート

From the end of March to the first of April, president Kasuga went on a business trip to abroad. The purposes of this trip were to determine the difficulty of raw-material supply, to confirm the conditions of overseas raw-material supplier companies, to see western market trends, and to investigate the possibility for new businesses.

The first stop was France, and one of the purposes during the stay wwas to attend the "JEC Composite 2011," which is the biggest compound material exhibition in the world, with more than 100 companies  participating. It was also a part of staff training. The other purpose was to team up with French companies possessing leading techniques.

The next destination was North America, where semiconductor manufacturing is prosperous. NiKKi Fron handles the highly efficient special resin from raw ore as materials needed for the chip fabrication used in PCs or mobile phones.

We realized that the strong influence of the earthquake in Japan for each foreign market, with the stop of core-parts supply, was larger than we had imagined.

Stricter risk management dispersion for Japan is required by local companies.

This business trip was not only a direct means of market research, but also a meaningful opportunity for us. There are many companies that are anxious about the influence of the Japanese catastrophe on foreign economies, and we recognized that the Japanese manufacturing sector occupies an important position in the development of the world economy.

A few staff members from the company's department of technology development attended the "JEC Composite 2011" held in Paris, France, as a chance to get a sense of the world trends in technology and to get ideas from them.

NiKKi Fron improves materials reflecting the change of times, and has been growing along with the Japanese economy for the past 115 years.

We established our first overseas factory in Thailand in 2010, and transferred GFRP (glass fiber reinforced plastic) products manufacturing to the new factory. The shift in carbon materials goes with the current of the aerospace field.

The affiliation with two French companies was following talks regarding production transfer to Japan, with the purpose of research and development of manufacturing technology for CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastics).

Mass-procution with special casting process is their speciality.

Complex shaping using a special mold is their specialty.

NiKKi Fron, with the new age aterial of CFRP molding manufacturing, improves research toward consistent manufacturing of CFRP, which has no operation in Japan yet, making our company the leader of this technology.

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)

In the museum, there are many types of exhibitions created by various techniques.

In the MoMA collection, there are not only ogjets and picturer, but laso engineering works, which are not considered as valuable art thus far.

Object that is expressed with new material

This is an example of "craftsmanship," which has been prized in Japan since ancient times. It is said that one can attain consummate skill and mastery of art by reaching for the extreme.

Our concept of "fusion of science and art" has been paraphrased as the fusion of "technology" and "crafsmen's work."

Feeling American culture and vigor at the Yankee stadium.

When we had a bried break at the stadium, we leaned that a part of the profits is contributed as relief donations for the Great 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami. For Japanese tourists who will return again, they announced, "We will keep sending a yell to you until the day when we can aid players together."

Throughout this business trip, I realized that it is difficult to copy Japanese manufacturing processes even though we transferred a factory and its facilities.

Now, Japanese faces a serious situation and our strength as a nation is being tried. I pay a visit from the bottom of our heart to the people stricken by the gerat earthquake. We express our heartfelt sympathy to the earthquake victims. As a sector and company where the conventional economic activity can contimue, we will do our best to take further steps forward to meet the overseas firms' expectations while waiting for the revival of the companies that suffered a great deal of damage.
