「英語検定試験による単位認定制度」の罠

In Nagoya University, unless you belong to Law Department, there is 単位認定制度.
For example, you clear TOEIC score 590, you get 2 units(単位), equal to 1 class.
Your clear 665, you get 4 units.
To get units by TOEIC, Nagoya University is easier than other universities.

If you are not bad at English about entrance exam, your TOEIC score is more than 500.
And, I’m sure that you can get more than 665, 4 units within 1 and a half year.
Of course you must study much and challenge all TOEIC.

I’m senior. I belong to department of engineering.
I was not good at English when I was high-school. And now.
I relied on the system, and studied hard when I was sophomore.
Last year, when I was junior, I get more than 665.

In last January, I saw a poster on a board.
It was about the system.
It said “If you’ve already got English units, you are not applied this system.”
This is a TRAP. Because…

Most of you must pass English class to avoid dropping out or choose course you hope.
It means, “Needless to say, you get English units, in some department you get full units within you are sophomore.”

On other wards, if you use this system,
・100% sure that you must get good score early
・you mustn’t get English units over you need (English classes are usually easy to pass)

I think this system is only for children returning from abroad.
