New Year's Eve also is a night to indulge in luxury fabrics, including velvet and jacquard. "More heavyweight satins and rich silks come out to play," says Harris. "Take the plunge and go for color here to really highlight the beauty of these fabrics." At Kohl's,Our range of Discount Sexy Tulle Sweetheart Beaded Crystal Mermaid Evening/Prom Dresses adds a touch of fun and glam to an evening. Wacksman notes lace, expected to be a big player come spring, adds a soft, feminine touch to sweaters and tees in overlays, trims and cut-outs. Along with sequins, lace pops up, too, in black-tie attire, especially, says Harris, with the reemergence of a formal New Year's Eve following a recent history of casual affairs taking the lead. The hourglass or sheath dress still dominates occasion dressing, but fit-and-flare frocks and easy-to-wear shifts are becoming more popular.

"The beauty of dresses is their transitional nature and the ability to style them to fit the attire of an event," says Harris. "A simple black or colored lace sheath can be paired with a blazer, tights and boots for a fun-and-easy yet adorably put-together look or totally done up with a great set of statement earrings or necklace, sleek chignon and killer footwear.

"The same principles could be applied to a matte jersey or sequin dress. Day-to-night dressing is a great way to get more out of each dress purchase.” For more-casual affairs or house parties, going for comfort doesn't mean sacrificing style. Try pairing boots or flats with a full-skirted dress or skirt or wearing a tank and blazer with slim, dark jeans. For a fun, of-the-moment look, Herman suggests anything in an Aztec print or featuring icon symbols, such as the evil eye or hamsa, or a cardigan with fringe. Blouson blouses also are perfect for pairing with form-fitting skirts and pants.

"For staying home, I would do a legging or a pleather legging with a big sweater or cute little top ― anything that's comfy but still cute that you can throw on a pair of heels with," says Herman. A pattern drawing perhaps-surprising interest is tartan.Beautiful long strapless evening gowns and strapless short Wholesale Cheap Sexy White Chiffon One Shoulder Sheath Long Evening/Prom Dresses that are flirty and fun. Plaids are just such a fun texture to work with. You can incorporate as many colors or as few colors as you want, and it's really complimentary to every body and every skin tone." But if you're heading out the door for New Year's Eve, looking chic isn't just about what's underneath your jacket. "The big trend we saw in coats this year was having a bold coat ― a really gorgeous, emerald coat or red coat, a coat that makes a statement," says Delson. "Even if you're not club-hopping or going bar to bar, if you're going from dinner to the theater, you want to do it in style."

Ladies, would you wear this?

Do you have a diary full of festive lunches, dinners and drinks parties,Sparkle and shine this festive season in our edit of Discount Spandex One Shoulder Beaded Draped Sheath Evening/Prom Dresses that will make you feel fabulous without even trying. but an empty wardrobe? Then you're just like me. You might imagine someone who began modelling at 16 and is still going strong at 61 would own countless designer outfits. But you'd be wrong. Four years ago, I auctioned off all of my best pieces by top designers such as Chanel, Ossie Clark and Yves Saint Laurent. I wasn't wearing them any more and loved the idea of someone else breathing new life into them. This feels a little bit Grecian. Get both ties, take them over one shoulder, twist at the back of the neck until you get to the small of your back and then wrap around your waist. It would look lovely at an informal party with friends. Diagonal lines are lengthening, so this is a good shape for anyone petite. It covers the bust – perfect for women who don't want to show too much flesh. A brooch pinned to the belt or the shoulder would give the look a bit of extra glamour. But that means every item I do have in my wardrobe has to work that little bit harder – especially at this time of year when, even though I'm not the party girl I once was, I still have umpteen events in my social calendar.

So well done Marks & Spencer and its ‘flexible party season saviour' multi-way dress, which they claim will see me through every occasion from Christmas to New Year. This frock – which comes in navy, gunmetal grey or black, and in sizes six to 18 – has a secret: an in-built bra and two long, jersey ties just below the bust that can transform it into five styles. You can wear it with demure sleeves for Christmas lunch or a more daring halterneck for cocktails on New Year's Eve. The concept of a simple, hard-working dress certainly appeals. In contrast to the flamboyant style of my youth, my look is much more pared down these days. I tend to wear the same thing: a black Vivienne Westwood pencil skirt, which I've had for 25 years, with a white shirt or cashmere sweater.

At 61, I accept I'm not going to look like I did in my 20s and 30s, but that doesn't mean I am going to let things slide. Besides not drinking, smoking or eating meat, I have a good diet and go to the gym four times a week.Think curvy brides can't look as fabulous in a wTulle sweatheart applique beaded ball party gown wedding dresses as their less-curvy counterparts? All of which means my skin looks a lot brighter and fresher. For this look, you pull the ties sideways and up over your shoulder, then loop them back under your armpit and knot around the front. This pretty style would be ideal for Christmas lunch. Any woman who feels self-conscious about the tops of her arms will feel comfortable in this. The back shows off the shoulder blades, which tend to look wonderful on women of all ages.

But, of course, feeling and looking good has just as much to do with how comfortable you are in what you're wearing. So, will this dress pass muster? And can you really wear it in so many different and interesting ways that you won't need any other outfit this party season? I've modelled for M&S before, but I wouldn't hesitate to tell you if this dress didn't make the grade. To be honest, some of the looks are a lot easier to achieve than others – shifting the ties around can be simplicity itself or a right old challenge, depending on which style you choose. The easiest look of all: just knot the ties at the back of your neck. To make it more chic, I twisted the back and knotted it around my waist. A halterneck is my favourite look for a glitzy cocktail party – a little bit informal but sexy. This dress makes me think of Marilyn Monroe in that picture of her skirt blowing up. Halternecks flatter broad shoulders as they break up the expanse of skin. The Western style of formal Discount Taffeta Sweetheart Crystal Beaded A-line Prom/Evening Dresses, characterized by black and white garments, has spread through many countries.

Bending the rules of gender

2013-12-26 10:36:27 | clothing

"That movement," explained Cohen, " was called Gender Bender. Those men took on feminine dress and actions without hiding or being ashamed. In the MTV culture it became this very free, colorful buzz. Today, when I look at our society, I wonder where all of that went. Instead of becoming the norm or a regular thing, we've gone further into the place of women as women and men as men." Tonight, Cohen will reveal his new work, named after the movement that inspired him as a kid, at Warehouse 2 in the Jaffa port. Gender Bender is an evening-length work that challenges the unspoken rules associated with gender in our society. The premier will mark the end of a twoplus- year hiatus Cohen has taken from the stage. His last work, Mad Siren, premiered over three years ago in Tel Aviv and went on to tour internationally. And while it may seem that Cohen was taking a break from choreography, the opposite is true.

"After the premier of Mad Siren, we worked for about six months to get the piece to where we wanted it to be. I started to work on Gender Bender two years ago. My cast and I have passed through many phases on the journey to creating this piece, which is very personal to all of us," he said in a recent interview with The Jerusalem Post. In order to catch a moment with Cohen,There was a time that the bridal veil was a given, but today it's as personal decision as what Wholesale Cheap New Arrival A-line Appliques White Satin Short Wedding Dress Wedding Party style to wear. we arranged to speak late in the evening. Outside of touring and choreographing, Cohen is also engaged in studies toward a master's of fine arts at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. If you're on a tight budget, thrift stores almost always have pretty Discount Pageant Dresses for sale in great condition. "It's been amazing so far," he said of his courses. "There is something very exciting and new going on at the Academy and I am truly thrilled to be part of it."

Cohen, now 35 years old, began his professional career as a dancer in the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, trading the kibbutz of his upbringing for that of Ga'aton. In 2003, Cohen broke off from the troupe to explore his own creative voice. His works, including Joy Ride, My Sweet Little Fur, Swan Lake, Brazil and Mad Siren, have been seen on stages in Europe, North America and Asia. Over the years Cohen has racked up a fair share of prizes including the Ministry of Culture's Best Young Artist Award in 2008, 2010 and 2012. Cohen is a guest teacher at many establishments, among them the University of Massachusetts Dance Department, Kullberg Ballet in Sweden and Scottish Dance Theater.

Cohen chose the topic of gender roles and their implications because of the prominent role the subject plays in his life. As a gay artist, Cohen knows that sexuality also plays a part in Gender Bender or at least in how the audience will perceive the piece.Visit us to browse through a range of party dresses and Wholesale Cheap Sey Chiffon Beaded Crystals A-line Sweep Train Prom/Evening Dresses for every occasion. "When we open the issue of sexuality we open a much larger question. What is the connection between my practice of sexuality and my sexual behavior, my body language and the way I interact in society? I want to get away from I'm gay, he's bi, she's gay, in order to say that there's a much more fluid, changing set of options. In a perfect world we would have freedom to escape from categories. In reality, we have to categorize ourselves or be categorized. "People are always telling me you are A, B, or C. In a utopia those questions would not be relevant or they would be only in very narrow areas of life. I'm not ashamed of what I do in bed and neither are our dancers. The question is why is it relevant and to who? I think that the interesting thing is to melt away the definitions. In this piece we want to separate these question into their parts. To show the conflicts that they bring up in our soul and maybe even to celebrate them," he explained.

Refresh your style

Ersilia Sarno, a wife, mom and family nurse practitioner from Cary, enjoys the parties, drop-ins and other celebrations during the holidays. A native of Italy, she admires beautifully made things, including clothing. But she rarely buys beautiful things for herself, even things she can easily afford. I showed her that planning ahead for the holidays isn’t just about decorating your home. A great outfit shows that you put in effort and makes the occasion feel more special. Two ensembles – one hip and modern and another soft and feminine – can take her from a house party to a night at the opera.

Before: I’d give this outfit a C+. The day dress attempts to look festive, but the droopy design and shape don’t suit Sarno’s fit frame. The dour black jacket competes with the cheerful green of the dress.A sexy thigh length dress with a lack bodice that has a halter neckline schoolgirl just the thing for you. The black boots and tights look like an afterthought.

Holiday hair and makeup: Kara Stephens brightened Sarno’s hair with highlights that complement her skin and eye colors, then trimmed dull ends to create shinier strands. She gave Sarno a classic updo that focuses attention on her elegant neck. Soft curls define the classic, feminine style. Nadia White polished Sarno’s look with sophisticated makeup. Concealer enhances the areas around her eyes, and foundation brightens her complexion. Golden-brown eyeshadows make the eyes sparkle, while blush adds color to cheeks. Subtle, reddish-brown lip color adds the final touch.

After, long and lean in jeans: A monochromatic outfit doesn’t have to be boring. The golden lace pattern on the Lisbeth top reveals just enough, and the sheer shirttail elongates her frame without adding bulk. The Linea classic jeans, with a waxed finish, are distinctive and can be dressed up or down. Pointed-toe Kristy pumps in an unexpected pink blush continue her long, lean line. Dawn drop earrings and the Hawley ring add more sparkle. The gold python clutch is a pretty place to stash lipstick, cash and keys.

After, dressed for cocktails: So many women wear a little black dress to every holiday party: Where’s the fun in that? This Azria knee-length stunner with the pleated skirt will stand out beautifully in a sea of LBDs, and the nude color complements Sarno’s skin tone. The long necklace frames the neckline and adds movement. The Edge of Urge cuff is another pretty conversation starter, complementing the gold python clutch and Dawn drop earrings.

The reaction: Sarno loves how the modern looks update her style and show off her figure, since she takes pains to stay healthy and fit. Kudos to Robin Berning at Simple Bliss Spa and Salon for providing free hairstyling and makeup that gave Sarno some long-overdue pampering. “My husband (Roger Gore, who got his Refresh Your Style makeover in February), tries to get me to buy things for myself all the time. But mostly I just look,” she said. “Maybe I’ll actually buy something now.” Amen.

'The Nutcracker' is a dance with tradition

2013-12-19 14:55:30 | clothing

So you’re playing a mouse. Probably not Oscar material. But to a little girl, eyes wide, shaking with excitement, the mouse is more than she dared hoped for. After all, she’ll be on stage, dancing in the iconic, spectacular favorite “The Nutcracker.” Being a mouse is fine, thank you.Along with the innumerable occasions in school like a cheap thong bikinis competition, role play, etc.

The sparkling lights, the Christmas tree dressed in silver and gold, the rustling of the long ruffled dresses, the lavish scenery and eye-popping costumes ― and the ballerinas moving perfectly through the air and across the stage. It is magic.

And it is a magic that takes hold of dancers when they are very young ― like 4 years old.

“I don’t know why I was so drawn to it,” said Christy Osler as she recalled seeing the “Nutcracker” for the first time when she was 4. She knew immediately she had to be a dancer and be part of the magic. She auditioned and landed the role of mouse in her first “Nutcracker” appearance. She’s been dancing ever since ― 13 years ― with the South Jersey Ballet.

Christy, a senior at Shawnee High School in Medford, rose in the dancing ranks over 13 years until she reached the Senior Company, the most advanced dancers. She’s gone from the mouse role to the party girl, doll, snowflake, Dew Drop Fairy and this year, the Arabian Lead.

For ballet students, “The Nutcracker” is mesmerizing. It is where they want to be in December. Never mind the long rehearsals or the reach for perfection.

“It is the perfection that draws me to ballet. That and the fact I love to perform in front of an audience,” Christy said.

“This will be my final show. It’s very sad.”

The always sold-out production of “The Nutcracker” draws the audience into the narrative ― a journey with Clara though a wintry wonderland to the Kingdom of Sweets. The audience is with Clara every moment until the end when she wakes up under the Christmas tree with her nutcracker still in her arms. The setting of the glittering “Nutcracker” is in Western Europe in the 1800s.

Julia O’Connor, 17 and a senior at Shawnee, will play Dew Drop in the production, having been the Sugar Plum assistant, angel, party girl, soldier and candy cane in past years. She’s been dancing since she was 3.

“This is the most fun time of the year. It’s something my family looks forward to every year. The music. The dancing. It’s the holiday spirit,” she said.

For Emily DiGiacomo, her last year in “The Nutcracker” is marked by dancing one of the biggest and most demanding roles ― the Snow Queen.

A senior at Cherokee High School in Evesham, this is Emily’s 11th year dancing in the holiday production.

“I remember the first time (she was a clown). I was so excited because I was never on stage before,Panties make an excellent gifting choice Cheap Strapless Flower Print Bikini Set on sale Besides thoughtfulness when gifted by a male partnersexy panties alsoconvey.” she said.

Her excitement has not waned but this year it’s mixed with some anxiety. “I’m partnering with male dancers and that’s a huge learning experience.”

Ballet demands perfection. Mistakes are noticed, Emily said. “It is all technically driven.”

With so many years of dance in their lives, all three of the senior dancers are not willing to give it up as they go off to college next fall.

Just to stay in shape it’s important to continue dance, whether it’s a dance team or programs offered by the college, said Julia. “Dancing is part of life.”

Christy agrees.
