だが、この作品は、神はバテレンには語ったが、日本人には「沈黙」したという驚くべき残酷な矛盾と疑問を生じさせ、これこそが聖書的な歴史観であるかのような錯覚を与えるという点で、非常に問題である。

遠藤の作品もフィクションだが、キリスト教もフィクションであり、欧米のフィクションの神は、西洋の白人男性に好意的な神であり、日本人の苦悩に沈黙すると同時に、キリスト教国の罪にも沈黙する神であり、それが、キリスト教の影響が深い欧米の人種観、民族観、歴史観であるのは、錯覚ではなかろう。
ついでにこうしたことは、キリスト教系とも言われるNYTのタブチさんが隠蔽し、また、沈黙する事柄でもある。
