Fly Fishing in Japan

This is a fishing dialy of a former flying fishmonger.

About me

2010-01-15 | ABOUT ME
I have been fly fishing since I was a kid, about 10 years old. Since then except a several years when I was
high teen and my kids were small, fly fishing has been part of my life. My first fish on fly was a tiny Bluegill
at the small pond near my home. Fished in streams, rivers, ponds and lakes then the ocean all over Japan.
Been working in seafood industry for many years and luckily I have many chance to fish in abroad as well.
Day and night, weekday and weekend I have been happily struggling with fish.

As you can see on my blog, I'm a kind of fly fishing nuts. When I lived in Moscow, Russia, as you can imagine,
without speaking any Russian I had very difficult time especially at my first year in Moscow. Nothing written
in English, no English information at all, did not know where to fish, how to get there, I was almost gave up
to fish while in Moscow. Next year finally and luckily I got know a couple of great guys. They are keen fly
fishers and English speakers. I fished together with them time to time. They looked after me so nicely and
I would never ever forget those great days fished with these Russian friends.
Backed to my home country, I have realized Japan is almost same as Russia. Now there's so many tourists,
business poeple and temporary, permanent foreigners visit and stay in Japan. I think some of them might
try to gather fishing information and faced to language barrier, found no way to understand, then simply
left their fishing gear at home. There's so many beatiful steams, rivers, ponds, lakes and the ocean to fly
fish in Japan. I am just an armature fly fisher and I know what I can do is very limited but hope my blog helps you a little bit.

Any day out fishing with a new friend is a good day. Drop me a line when you come to Yokohama or Tokyo.
Hope you enjoy your stay in Japan.

Now have moved in to Nishinomiya-city, Hogo prefecture, no more fish business, started new
life. Fishing still remains same, it's a my life passion.
