My
Ross Momentum is back. I purchased this discontinued model a couple of years ago after
LT model had been introduced in market on ebay as clearance sales with original warranty card.
Since then it worked pretty well both on freshwater and saltwater, immediately it became one
of my most favourite reel. After Mahi trip I found something wrong with drag, no idea why but
it's still a little bid tight even loosen drag all the way. The drag system is completely sealed and
without special knowledge and tools no way to open it. So after the season, actually two weeks
ago, I sent it to Ross factory in Colorado for repair.
Over a week, after sending my reel to the factory I heard nothing from them, even the EMS tracking
said it has been delivered to the Ross factory and had been wondering if I should call or email
to them. A few days later then, I got a sudden email from FedEx in Japanese they said they were
going to deliver it to my house. The reel was amazingly delivered to my house on the day which
they said on email when it despatched.
I found enclosed
letters from Ross repair specialist and a
maintenance bulletin. Oh, I am sorry,
now I understood the problem and recalled what I did after Mahi trip. With Billypate Tarpon reel,
I flushed lubrication spay on it. On the letter he said there was oil in the drag area then he cleaned
out it, and the big surprise was it said it's covered under warranty no charge for service or return
shipping.
Almost same time I have sent my Gulfstream spool (no warranty) for a little work to Tibor and
today they emailed back to me let them know my credit card number without invoice or charge.
Certainly I agreed for service charge before sending a spool but not for return shipping because
they offered me highest shipping rate by USP priority mail international costs USD 52 and I asked
them to ship it back by USP priority flat rate small box cost USD 18.00, just like they sent parts to
me a few weeks ago, because it's a spool only without handle. It's odd, in my experience so far
Tibor has good service, but did they change their company policy or just a mistake?
Anyway, thanks Ross I really appreciate your service and for sure I buy Ross again.
