Got three bits, landed nothing. After fishing I found someone stuck a nail or ice pick in sidewall
of one of my car tyre. Actually, last week I found I got a flat tyre after cat fishing and changed
to new tyres, as a hole on a sidewall of rear tyre. I thought it caused when I was driving but
now I knew it's same reason. Damm those brats!

Getting cold day by day, but they are still biting. Got two bites and landed one baby. Probably
a few more weeks we can enjoy to play with them.

A lucky night, got the first bite on first cast and the last bite on last cast. Cats are still biting,
because of hot summer? high water temperature? Anyway, it seems like the cats season has
not ended yet and it's worth to fish next week again.

I was originaly thinking about to fish in Yokosuka for Mebaru but weather dose not cooperative
in these days. Nearly 10 meter per second wind in Yokosuka area and 2 meters waves means
no chance to fish in saltwater. Cats came into my mind as it's almost end of the season and
would be the last in this year. My favourite stretch was quiet and water was high because of
recent rain. I fished here nearly a month ago, and if no one fished for a while, I was expecting
it might be a great night. Water flow as very fast and frog popper moved too fast. Expectation
was an expectation as I know, no bite from upper stretch where used to be good in this season.

About an hour later, I got a first bite was really short bite, it's very difficult to move popper
slowly and get firm bite in this strong and fast flow water. Later two straight attacks middle of
the river and I thought second one was firmly hooked up. But actually it's not. Soon another
attack, this time it's firmly on and was probably the biggest cat I ever got.



The season has not ended, I should fish again in next week, hahaha

Tried pike fly, as it seemed like work well at last time, however it only scared cats. Got a bite on
pink frog popper and missed it, another skunk day. So many cats, but they were not active at all.
Why not?

Cats research, we tried upper stretch of the river a couple of kilometres from my regular spot.
It's a junction pool, mostly very shallow and some knee depth. The flow was strong, it seemed
not a good pool for cats. Soon, my buddy got a bite on his Pike fly about 20cm length, unfortunately
it was loosen in a few second. Cats in fast flow shallow water looked very aggressive, however
they would not like my popper.



I moved to my regular spot and fished there about one hour, got two bites, the last bite was
nearly on. My buddy got seven bites all together, seems like cats like pike flies, do they?

Yellow worked very well even after huge fishing pressure. Got six bites and the amazing bite
was at the pool end, cat bit rod tip just in front of me, while I was popping as the rod tip was
gently rapping water surface.

Tied and tried new version pink as I lost my most favourite pink frog popper last week.
Four bites, hooked up nothing, actually the third bite looked really good, as I heard a big
sucking sound, but it's just left a slight touch. Should I try Yellow?

The first night for my buddy backed from Holland at Last week was miserable condition, high
and muddy water, so actually tonight was the real first trail for him. After work, I mail to him
I will wait for him to change clothes but he said he would not mind as he used to fish wear
suites when he was in Holland. We stopped over a fly shop and chatted over with shop owner
and his customer a little bit then headed to the river. It looked like perfect condition for cats,
as it's a very hot and humid night, like South-Eastern countries. When temperature have been
high, over 30℃ in these days, frogs, cicadas, crockets and other insects are getting more and
more active, so do cats.

Water colour and flow were good. Just about ten minutes later, I got a first bite but missed it.
The second one was on at next cast after with a few pop, maybe same fish or not. It's a good
50cm+ fish and when I grabbed the leader and was pulling it up, suddenly it came loose and
gone, no photos... Just about ten minutes later I got another bite and hooked up firmly, a little
bit smaller than last one, but still good enough for me.



Shortly later, my buddy screamed from lower stretch of the river, "FFFFFiiiiissssshhhhh on!"
The first ever catfish for him was firmly bit orange popper and I carefully landed it. Good job
buddy!
