また、祭司長たちも同じように、律法学者たちといっしょになって、イエスをあざけって言った。「他人は救ったが、自分は救えない。キリスト、イスラエルの王さま。今、十字架から降りてもらおうか。われわれは、それを見たら信じるから。」また、イエスといっしょに十字架につけられた者たちもイエスをののしった。
さて、十二時になったとき、全地が暗くなって、午後三時まで続いた。そして、三時に、イエスは大声で、「エロイ、エロイ、ラマ、サバクタニ」と叫ばれた。それは訳すと「わが神、わが神。どうしてわたしをお見捨てになったのですか」という意味である。
そばに立っていた幾人かが、これを聞いて、「そら、エリヤを呼んでいる」と言った。すると、ひとりが走って行って、海綿に酸いぶどう酒を含ませ、それを葦の棒につけて、イエスに飲ませようとしながら言った。「エリヤがやって来て、彼を降ろすかどうか、私たちは見ることにしよう。」
それから、イエスは大声をあげて息を引き取られた。神殿の幕が上から下まで真っ二つに裂けた。
イエスの正面に立っていた百人隊長は、イエスがこのように息を引き取られたのを見て、「この方はまことに神の子であった」と言った。マルコの福音書１５章３１～３９節
Mark 15:31-39 Likewise the chief priests also, mocking among themselves with the scribes, said, “He saved others; Himself He cannot save. Let the Christ, the King of Israel, descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe.” Even those who were crucified with Him reviled Him. Jesus Dies on the Cross Now when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “ Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” Some of those who stood by, when they heard that, said, “Look, He is calling for Elijah!” Then someone ran and filled a sponge full of sour wine, put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink, saying, “Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to take Him down.” And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last. Then the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. So when the centurion, who stood opposite Him, saw that He cried out like this and breathed His last, he said, “Truly this Man was the Son of God!”
