We had the guests from German, participated in Yatsushiro Three days March 2012.
Michael, speaks English, chose the guesthouse Atarashiya in Hinagu hot spring town from the leaflet with the photos of accommodation around here which was sent by the event secretariat.
Because he'd like to stay at the typical Japanese guesthouse, not influenced by European culture at all, with his memory that he once stayed at Higashi-Matsuyama, the old and typical Japanese small town, 18 years ago.
He and his friends really loved our accommodation, Tatami mats, small and low table, Japanese food, chopsticks, and such as ordinary-for-us but new-for-foreigners things.
They were actually so kind, polite and friendly people.
I was so glad to hear that they loved our house and our traditional home town.
Hinagu hot spring town in Yatsushiro city has 600 years history, that was found by a dutiful son through the revelation in a dream.
He prayed the restoration of his father for the god since he was wounded in the war, and finally the god Ichikishima-Himenomikoto appeared in his dream and said the original place of the hot spring hidden in the tideland at that time.
Also Hinagu hot spring town is the place where the Japanese traditional wooden hotels/guesthouses with 2 or 3 floors gathers the most in Kyushu area.
Most of the hotels/guesthouses' buildings here, including Atarashiya, were built under the traditional techniques 80-100 years ago.
These may attract the Foreigners so much.
Atarashiya Guesthouse always welcome the foreign guests from all over the world too.
Michael, Martin and Guido, thank you so much for staying in our guesthouse.
Have a nice stay in Japan and hope to see you again someday.
Atarasiya owner,
Terumitsu Ito
