Time is flying so fast !
I arrived in Fiji on May 11th. I have been here about 8 months.
This is my first time to study abroad.
Before I came to Fiji I thought the season of Fiji is hot all
year around
but Fiji has the dry and the rainy seasons. The dry season is
from May to October. It was comfortable. Especially it become
cooler in the early morning. Sometimes there were dewdrops on the grass. I needed blanket in the night.
The rainy season is from November to April. Now we came into
the rainy season. Every afternoon it rained cats and dogs.
We couldn't hear teacher's voice because of the sound of the
falling rain. From now may be sometimes it will be struck
by a hurricane. Also it will be hot all day.
My host family was Indian. When I met them for the first time,
they seemed friendly and kind. They welcomed me as one of
their family. One day I was in bed with a cold, my host mother
came to see me overcome with anxiety. But they usually talk in Hindi.
I couldn't understand at all. One day I asked them üþWhat are
you talking about?" One of them replied to me " Just family
talking ! " I felt sad.
I have eaten Indian curry every day. It was very hot and oily.
Indian people like oily foods. For example, after cook for boiled
egg still more fry the egg. The vegetable as okura, beans,
pumpkin fry until brown color using a lot of oil. One day I had
a stomachache. May be my stomach became weak. So I cooked myself Japanese meal. One week later I was getting well. Then I was used to eating Indian Curry.
I cooked "Croquette" for family. The first, mix mash potatoes
and can of tuna then make it round then coated with flour, egg,
bread crumbs. The last fry until brown color.
Everybody liked it very much.
I met a lot of local people on my way to school. I always greeted somebody and sometimes greeted somebody with a wave of the
hand. After a while we stood chatting and I made a friend. Day by day we become friendly I sometimes visited their house and
enjoyed talking also I learned Fijian culture. I think my
English improves during that time.
Free Bird Institute have twenty-eight teachers. All teachers
have a license and always welcome the students with
smiling faces. Students enjoyed learning English and they always
laughed during lessons. We had twice exams for one semester. I reviewed today's lesson and prepared tomorrow's lesson every
day. Also my teacher gave us a lot of homework. I have to study very hard. But I like learning English. My classmates were all
young people but they were very kind to me. Due to this I
became cheerful and could continue Fiji life.
I tried speaking English at every opportunity and I made a lot of
friends. I'll never forget all of them. Thank you a million for the
big BULA smile.
