To all the Ageo TMC members,
Let me report to you the hottest news to you.
Area 31 (Utsunomiya, Akabane Bilingual, Chiyoda, Nipponnbashi-Century and Ageo) Tall Tales Speech Contest was held on Sunday, October 4, 2009, at Room #14 on the 10th floor of Urawa PARCO starting at 1:30 p.m.
In this contest, TM Umemoto won the first prize in English language category.
Congratulations to TM Umemoto.
His speech title was “Japanese wife.”
We were very impressed with his story with lots of actions and solid speech composition.
And many thanks to TM Suzuki for his well-prepared and interesting speech entitled “A Little Garden.” It is indeed praiseworthy for him to have participated in the contest (Japanese language category) even though he hasn’t finished his “Ice Breaker” yet.
We wish him the best of good luck.
Each contestant gave his/her own interesting speech. All of them used in their speeches amusing expressions such as Chikuwa (broiled fish-paste), Honorable Inari (fox-deity statue), weather-forecaster, divorced husband, beach float, time-machine, deer, plant’s seed, amaryllis and so forth. They used both animate and inanimate words to make their stories all the more interesting, including the use of some Japanese dialects for enjoyment of the audience. Thank you.
We also thank Utsunomiya TMC staff members playing host to the Tall Tales Speech Contest for their smooth discharge of the program schedule.
And thank you, all of you, Ageo TMC members, who came to attend the contest session
for big cheers and support. (TM Cosgrove, TM Ayabe & her little daughter, TM Tamanaha (concurrently as a judge), TM Yoshimura and TM Yamaguchi.)
